Dario De Giosa

Presentation

Born in Lecce in 1976, from an early age he shows a marked and natural predisposition for drawing. Following his inclination, he studied sculpture at the Art Institute of Lecce, graduating with full marks in 1995.

After high school he decides to broaden his horizons by enrolling in the course of Cultural Heritage with an archaeological address at the University of Salento; deepens the study of the most ancient phases of the history of Salento - from the Protohistory and the Iron Age, to the subsequent Messapian Age, up to the Roman conquest - and first obtained a degree with honors in 2003 and then the title of Doctor of Research in Ancient Topography in 2011.

During his university studies he put his skills and artistic knowledge to good use by working as a designer of archaeological finds within the Department of Cultural Heritage and specializing in the relief and technical analysis of ancient monuments.

After completing his studies, he decides to carry on, sometimes combining them together, both activities as an archaeologist and an artist. On the one hand, he continues to collaborate with archaeological research bodies (Universities, CNR, Superintendencies and Museums) as a consultant and responsible for the graphic documentation of publications; on the other hand he continues his activity as a sculptor working on his own, on commission, as a stonemason in Salento companies and, finally, as a teacher of drawing, modeling and introduction to sculpture in specially programmed courses.
